The Gambia's official language is English but there are several tribal languages, a few of which are Mandinka, Wolof, Pulaar, and Soninke. Most Gambian people are bilingual.[1]
Religion
Data from the CIA World Factbook shows that the majority of Gambian citizens identify as Muslim, boasting 96.4%, 3.5% identify as Christian and the remaining 0.1% identify with other religious beliefs.[7]
However, while the majority of the population practice Islam, The Gambia is not a very strict country when it comes to religion. Unlike other countries where Sharia Law* applies, the Gambian Constitution protects freedom of religion, allowing citizens to practice whatever beliefs they choose.[3]
